When to use it

Say this when ordering to request a mild dish — ไม่ (mâi) is the negation "not," เผ็ด (phèt) is "spicy." For extra certainty, add เลย (ləəy): ไม่เผ็ดเลย — "not spicy at all." In tourist areas staff are used to the request; in local eateries it may surprise them, so pointing helps.
