When to use it

Useful when trying on clothes or shoes and you need a different size. The comparative pattern is reusable: [adjective] + กว่า (kwàa) + นี้ (níi) + ไหม (máy) — for example, มีเล็กกว่านี้ไหม (mii lék kwàa níi máy) — Do you have a smaller one than this? ขนาด (kha-nàat) is the native Thai word for "size," and you can use it instead of the loanword ไซส์ (sáy). That said, ไซส์ (sáy) is widely used even among Thai people themselves.

Why you've seen it spelled differently

You may have seen มีไซส์ใหญ่กว่านี้ไหม written as: mee size yai kwa nee mai, mi sai yai gwa ni mai, mee sai yai kwaa nee mai.

There is no single standard for writing Thai in the Roman alphabet — phrasebooks, road signs, and tourist guides each follow a different system, and many just invent their own spellings. The romanization on this page uses a consistent IPA-based system that marks all five tones and distinguishes short from long vowels. The same word always gets the same spelling.
